It’s Ascension Thursday already, before you know it, it’ll be Pentecost, one of my favorite religious days. I wonder who I’m going to read with at the 7:00 mass tonight.
Mandy, you’re head lector you ding bat! You can pick whoever you want to read with you!
Good Point. Katie Mosher was there last night so she probably won’t be there. Arlene Dupuis was serving last night, so it won’t be her either, and Bob Case would rather die than read with me.
Here’s a brilliant idea, how about you wait and see who’s there and take it from there?
Wow, someone’s feisty tonight. But it’s still a good idea.
It’s 6:45 and no one is here yet. Well… John is, but his wife is due any day now and I don’t want to take him away from her in case something happens…Ray Roux just came in, but he’s in shorts.
Wait a little while longer before putting the books out.
Now it’s 6:55 and there is still no one, I’ll wait like two more minutes, until Ray says to put the books out.
“Well Mandy, looks like you’re the only one.” Ray said as he came back from searching for Eucharistic Ministers.
Great, I’m the only lector and I have no fricken clue how to say that word in he first reading!Just take a guess. They won’t know either! Go for it! The Holy Spirit is with you on this one!
“…The Word of the Lord.”
See, it wasn’t that bad, and you actually got it right too! Nice Job!
Mass proceeded pretty normal, very small crowd, so small my voice was echoing throughout the church. It was like a Lenten weekday crowd. The 5:30 was balcony room only, so I wasn’t surprised when the 7:00 was dwindled down to no one. But I could see Sue out there in the crowd, and that made me more confident.
“Please join us in our closing song, number 9 in your green books, Lord I Lift Your Name On High.”
My gosh, talk about taking the easy way out you cheap skakes! Did you not hear the words of the second reading; was I not loud enough for you to get the message? The line said “You shall be clothed with power from on high, and you shall be my witnesses, until the holy spirit comes to you.” That is the line of the song “You shall be clothed with power.”
